Justyna Rekść-Raubo

Justyna Rekść-Raubo began her musical education at the age of nine. During her school years she took part in the 2nd Warsaw Cello Competition receiving second prize and a special distinction award. She graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in 1994 and as one of its best graduates was selected to perform as soloist with the Academy’s symphony orchestra at its annual concert. In 2018 she further graduated from the Music Academy in Krakov (viola da gamba class conducted by prof. Rainer Zipperling).

Justyna Rekść-Raubo perfected her skills by attending numerous master classes, where she worked under the guidance of such prominent artists as: Jaap ter Linden, Władysław Kłosiewicz, Tobias Khne, Jonathan Manson, Kazimierz Michalik, Milo Sadlo, Victoria Yagling, Marie Leonhardt, Petr Wagner and Rainer Zipperling.

Justyna Rekść-Raubo was principal cellist of “Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense”, the baroque ensemble of the Chamber Opera in Warsaw led by Władysław Kłosiewicz. As a chamber musician she has recorded extensively for Polish Radio and TV as well as for various polish CD labels.

Apart from early music her repertoire includes contemporary works. In 1993 she co-founded ensemble NONSTROM, a group of musicians devoted to performing and inspiring the creation of contemporary music. With NONSTROM she gave first performances of many pieces written specially for the ensemble and took part in international festivals of contemporary music in Poland and abroad.

Justyna Rekść-Raubo has initiated and inspired many musical and educational projects; among them a series of concerts entitled: AUKSO Music Gallery in the Center for Contemporary Art in Warsaw and the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Zachęta National Art Gallery. Her efforts have resulted in the setting-up of an interdisciplinary project “Zachęta for educators and the young”. Together with Marek Moś she is the co-director of The AUKSO Summer Philharmonic Festival, held in Suwałki and the Pieniny regions under the patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

She is the founder and director of the F.O.R.T.E. Foundation and co-founder of the AUKSO Music Foundation.
